Welcome to the Transdisciplinary Integrated Inquiry Unit Planning Wiki

by Edward Schroeter

“The meaning of ‘knowing’ has shifted from being able to remember and repeat information to being able to find and use it.”  — (National Research Council, 2007)

Welcome to my "curated" wiki workspace.

It is designed to provide helpful information and resources about inquiry learning, interdisciplinary instruction, and curriculum integration to teachers, educators, parents, and students. I have attempted to select, organize, and present online content and information using my professional knowledge and experience.

This main function of the workspace, however, is to house downloadable resources for teachers to enable them to plan and teach using transdisciplinary (integrated curriculum) inquiry methods and to support visitors to my other sites, http://www.inquirylearning.simplesite.com and http://www.facebook.com/inquiry.learning.in.kindergarten .

On this site you will find information on:

  • how children learn,
  • how we know that children truly understand,
  • definitions of and background information on, and the relationship between inquiry learning (IL), interdisciplinary instruction, curriculum integration, differentiated instruction (DI), and assessment for learning (AFL).
  • guiding questions and planning templates to enable powerful learning experiences, and,
  • links to additional information.

I hope you find this site and its information and resources helpful. It is a work in progress, so check back often to see the most recent updates.

Sincerely,

Edward Schroeter
